Where Was This Book When I was a Kid? Great Book for Kids & Adults Who Don’t Get Investing
Investing for Kids is one of those books that I wish was available when I was a kid and is one that I’m actually reading along with my kid as an adult! With all the meme investing going on with battle cries of “take so-and-so stock to the MOON”, it’s easy to lose sight of the fundamentals of good investing, and Investing for Kids is a good book for kids and adults who are due for a refresher course to read. This is not a “lemonade stand” type of kiddie investing book, but instead takes complicated concepts and simplifies it so that even kids can understand. This book talks about various risk and rewards investments including treasury bills, CDs, corporate bonds, high yield bonds, the stock market, private equities, venture capitals, and angel investing. It encourages kids to diversify their portfolios and to really research a investment/company before sinking money into it. This book helps give ideas of budgeting, quizzes kids on what type of investor they are, gives historical examples of the markets going up or down, highlights successful individuals, and really encourages kids to dream big and set goals for their money. This book really sparked and interest in my kid to learn more about the stock market, and I love how it explains all the small details such as market orders and limit orders to him in an easy to understand manner. This book also includes a nice resource chapter at the end of the book that includes recommendations to other good investment books as well as a number of websites to learn more about investing such as investopedia. Overall, this is a book that all kids – and many adults – should read. It great for helping kids get an understanding of investing and will hopefully encourage them to make great money choices in the future.
